Greetings Minnie Ruffin Elementary Family,
As we’ve always believed, families are the child’s first teacher. This will be especially important over the next month. In response to the Governor’s emergency proclamation, all Monroe City Schools are closed beginning Monday, March 16 through at least April 14. All schools and buildings will be closed and all activities - including school day instruction, before and after-care, preschool, health services, parent-teacher conferences, and student registration - will be canceled until further notice.
Our hope is that all of our students and their families are well and safe during this precautionary time. Although the school will not be open for learning, our students' minds are open for learning. We take this opportunity to invite you to your child's teacher's webpage to find enrichment activities to keep them abreast with the curriculum and prepared for the rest of the school year. Please visit our Meet the Staff tab located in the About Our School Section to locate your child's teacher. Additional enrichment materials can be found at https://www.mcschools.net/mcs-enrichment-activities-for-time-of-closure/.
Grab-and-go lunches for all students will be available March 17, at select sites throughout the district. The meals will be distributed from 10:30-12:00 Monday-Friday at the following schools Jefferson, Baukdull Faulk, Carroll Jr, Sallie Humble, Burg Jones, Madison Foster, Shelling and Wossman Additional information is available on our website.
We encourage you to continue to follow CDC guidelines to prevent any further spread of this virus. If you are able, please offer help to friends and neighbors. Small moments of kindness, grace, and support will go a long way as we navigate our collective response to this situation.
