Coach Curry's P.E. Page

Hello My Name Is...

Loretta Curry

I would like to explain what we will be doing in Physical Education this year and, in particular, how my class works.  This is my 11th year teaching after graduating with my B.S. in Kinesiology, from the University of Louisiana at Monroe as well as my, M.S in Education from American Continental University.  I would like to take this time to invite you to stop by my office, the Gym, or give me a call at (318) 322-3447.  You can stop by to meet me, talk about your's child's progress, volunteer, or just to see what we are learning in health and fitness.

Over the course of this year, our curriculum will be based on the five health related components of fitness:  cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition.  We will also do fitness testing and send home fitness report cards so that you may know your child's level of fitness and how they compare to their peers across the nation.

The P.E. program that we use was developed by Focused Fitness  and the name of the program is Five for Life.  In the units we study, there are several fun activities and games that we will participate in.  The criteria for getting a satisfactory grade are very clear, and any student is capable of this if he/she participates with genuine effort.  The best strategy for your child to ensure that knowledge is retained is by participating.  Actually participating and having fun in an activity will teach your child more about their body and how it works far better than me lecturing will.

If there is any reason that your child can not participate in physical education please let me know as soon as possible, by calling, sending a doctor's note or parent note, etc.  Any of these are acceptable if possible, however I understand that emergencies may occur.  If there are any other questions about me or my class once again you can stop by, give me a call, or send me an email at

Yours in Optimal Health,

Loretta Curry, M.S.
