School History

Minnie Ruffin Elementary was built in 1962 and named after the principal of the old Monroe City High School. As part of the Bond Issue, it was completely remodeled in 1995 and floor space doubled. Mr. Andrew Hill became Principal in 1986 and remained so until October 2003. Mrs. Sylvia E. Brass became Principal in October 2003. We currently have classes from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade and a computer lab.

Mid-South State Farm Insurance employees served as a major partner in education. Due to the Monroe office closing, we are in transition and currently seeking other Partners in Education. However, Captain D's employees and the Parkview Church of Christ are currently serving as our Partners In Education. They provide different materials, mentoring, and other events for the school. They are truly a blessing to our students, community, and faculty and staff.
